Fireside chat + workshop with Sarah Tang
Monday October 19th 5:30am EDT (Boston) / 11:30am CET (Berlin) / 8:30pm AEDT (Sydney)
Recording avilable: watch what happened!
Tune into a fireside chat & moderated workshop with Sarah Tang, Vice President of Enterprise at leading crowdsourcing marketplace Freelancer.com, and explore what the rapid shift towards more freelance-based work (“gig economy”) means for the future of work as a whole.
Working nine-to-five in a downtown corporate office for one single employer is a far cry from the work realities of many millions of people around the globe – and increasingly so. While deemed the norm for a considerable amount of time, traditional jobs are being fast overturned by flexible, independent work arrangements, where workers shape their own work lives rather than live by office rules. What adds to the appeal of independent work is more pronounced autonomy, more flexibility due to a payment-by-task scheme, shorter term relationships between worker and client, and the increasing pervasiveness of digital platforms to create efficient marketplaces for independent work.
One example for the latter is Freelancer.com, a 2009-founded, Sydney-based popular crowdsourcing marketplace. Sarah Tang built and leads the enterprise business at Freelancer.com, giving her an intimate look not only into gig workers’ perspective but the corporate view on freelance work as an increasingly prevalent work model – a trend that is set to accelerate even further as a result of COVID-19.
Join Sarah Tang and moderator-journalist Felix Zeltner in this intimate fireside chat and moderated workshop to find out more.
As Sarah Tang is joining us from Sydney, Australia, this event takes place during the night for US residents. We will publish the recording on our website for everyone who was not able to join.
